Cable Resistance Thermometers (RTDs PT 100)

We manufacture and design cable resistance thermometers, often called cable RTD Pt 100, cable Pt100, Pt100 sensors or Pt 100 thermocouples. Cable resistance thermometers are very cost effective for temperature measurement below  260°C, although some designs are good up to 500°C.  The construction of a cable resistance thermometer consists of a RTD element, often a Pt100 securely attached to a length of cable. The Pt100 element can then be protected in a number of ways and designed to get the best measurement from your process. The maximum temperature for a cable resistance thermometer is determined by its insulation but there are high temperature options such as glass fibre if required.

Cable Resistance Thermometer Designs

There are a variety of options when it comes to cable resistance thermometer design. Select the appropriate design below to view full specifications.

Common designs include:

If you are unsure exactly what you need, get in touch and we can help identify your requirements.

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Screw Tip

This resistance thermometer design is often used by an equipment manufacturer where quick installation and replacement may be required.

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Metal Pocket

The resistance thermometer is protected by a metal sheath. This configuration is popular in original equipment manufacture.

Cable Resistance Thermometer with Ceramic Pocket

This design is often used for high voltage applications. There are many variations on ceramic pocket that are available.

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Pipe Clamp

This design is often used for boilers or frost protection and anywhere a pipe or its contents need to be measured.

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Polymer Coating

This FEP polymer coated design displays a high level of acid resistance and voltage resistance.

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Eye/Washer

A very flexible design commonly used across a range of industries in multiple applications.

Cable Resistance Thermometer with Eye

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Exposed Element

A very inexpensive component for equipment manufacturers to install.

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Exposed Element

Cable Resistance Thermometer With Handle

This cable resistance thermometer design is used as an insertion probe in the food industry. This can be supplied with a miniature plug and hand held readout.

Special Options

All our cable resistance thermometers are custom made, as such we are able to tailor your sensors exactly to your requirements. There are many options available including:

  • Element Options

    Pt100 B as standard with Pt100 A, 1/3,1/5,1/10 DIN, Pt 50, Pt 500, Pt 1000 and Pt 2000 available on request.

  • Calibration

Full UKAS or UKAS traceable calibration is available. AMS 2750 F to full or traceable calibration is available.

  • Material Certificates

Material certificates are available on request.

  • High Temperature Versions

High temperature options for plugs, sockets and cable can be supplied.

  • Wire Configuration

3 wire as standard, marked red/red/white, with 2 or 4 wires on request.

  • Plugs or Sockets

Either standard or miniature plugs and sockets can be attached instead of tails.

  • Overbraid

The cable thermocouples cab be stainless steel or tinned copper over-braided for extra toughness.

  • Tagging

Your own serial, product number or other information attached to sensors via heat shrink cable or metal tags.

  • Duplex

Resistance thermometers can be supplied duplex instead of simplex.

  • IP68 compatible

Cable thermocouples can be IP68 compatible so they are rated as “dust tight” and protected against complete, continuous submersion in water.
